Since its formation the band has grown in both size and reputation and today displays the combined musical talent of about forty local musicians. Our musicians include amateur and semi-professional players, teachers and students. We are a community band in every sense. Our President is the Bognor Regis Town Mayor.
Due to the versatility of the Concert Band there is a wide range of music arranged for it. Our repertoire includes Marches, Classical Favourites, Pop, Jazz, Swing, TV, Film and Show Music. We play music to suit all tastes.
We perform regularly in a variety of venues in and around Bognor: local halls, churches, pubs, fetes, the Alexandra Theatre, and of course both Bognor's bandstands - on the seafront and in Hotham Park.
A Concert Band is like an orchestra where all the strings have been replaced with an enlarged Clarinet and Saxophone section. It is not the same as a “Big Band”, “Brass Band” or a “Marching Band”.
We are the current holders of the Southdowns Concert Band Cup and participate in the Festival for Music, Speech and Drama annually.
Bognor Regis Concert Band are excited about the future of the band in our new rehearsal venue. From June 23rd we will be starting rehearsals at Felpham Community College, Felpham Way, Bognor Regis PO22 8EL. Tuesday evenings 7.30pm - 9.30pm. This new facility promises to be a great move in the progress of the band. The venue gives us more space, which will allow us to increase the band’s membership. In this regard, we are actively recruiting new members to join us.
